FRINGES AND COUNTERCULTURE
Amsterdam is unique because of its long tradition of counterculture at the frayed edges of the city, such as Garage Noord, Nieuw en Meer and Sexyland. In these places, art is created spontaneously. People can be themselves, and culture is experienced collectively, without unnecessary interference from outside. We make more room for cultural sanctuaries where Amsterdam residents can experiment with culture.
CULTURE AFTER MIDNIGHT
The night is a moment where innovative, experimental, beautiful forms of art emerge that cannot be seen during the day. Our night culture is an essential part of Amsterdam and must remain protected. That is why, for the first time ever, the city council is developing a Night Vision (Nachtvisie).
